Pictures of St.Pats' Week

Chele's been busy again with the camera.

Click here for a new gallery of photos taken during recent gigs at The Crown in Stockton, Warwickshire Golf Club and The Greyhound, Coventry.

The band is bracing itself for another busy St.Patrick's Week next year with gigs already lined up at The Greyhound and Molly O'Gradys.

Pete Willow's Life On Mars

Oddsods guitarist Pete Willow (recognise him?) revisits the 70s next Sunday (22nd April) for an evening of nostalgic music.

Pete was active on the Coventry folk scene when flairs and platforms were considered cool. Now he and fellow old folkies Sean Cannon, Rob Armstrong, Ninepenny Marl, Ron Shuttleworth, Malc Gurnham and Pete Grassby are performing in a free admission concert at the Maudsley Hotel, Allesley Old Road, Coventry, starting 7.30pm. Other acts from the period are likely to show up and there is a charity raffle for cancer research.

Pete's set will include a number with his old partner-in-crime, Dennis Clarke, who still belts out traditional Marc Bolan and Billy Fury numbers at the occasional local singaround.

There's a lot of nostalgia around at the moment. Trev Teasdale's 'Hobo' blog is full of amazing material from the Coventry music scene in the 70s, including items from Folks Magazine that Pete used to edit. If you were part of the scene then - or just want to discover the musical heritage of this city - it's a real treasure trove. Put on those platforms and get surfin'!

PK to Sail on the Edge

Episode 5 of the Kenny Chronicles...

I'm in the Bay of Islands NZ Northland in a B&B called 'The Retreat' with stunning views. I played at the Hamilton FF at a singer/songwriters concert and was well received, then jammed through the night with some awesome musicians. One guy played an ANZAC song called 'In Memoriam' - absolutely stunning.

They have a concept here which I've not seen before, it's called the 'Blind Date' Concert where on arrival anyone can put their name into a hat, superstars and all. Then it's drawn into groups of three or four at random. These groups are then given a two song spot the next day in the Blind Date Concert and have 24 hours to practice together. Some of the acts were brilliant and some were hilarious.

I'm about to book a couple of boat rides around the islands, one a huge speedboat 'The Excitor' and another in a catamaran 'The Edge'.

Brimming with lots of ideas for songs, see you all soon

Yis yis yis! Another missage from Kinny...

Episode 4 of Paul's peregrinations in the land of pulped possums...

Gilly Darby and Keith were brilliant at the Mussel Inn on Sunday night. Gilly still has a tremendous voice and they both brought the house down. Gilly was promoting her latest CD which I bought and Keith found the Kiwi sense of humor - and his musicianship which is often overlooked by his zany humor was excellent doing a serious rendition of 'Two Trees' a self penned serious song about 9/11.

I'm in Nelson at the moment, Wednesday 4, and will be crossing to the North Island Friday.

They have a problem with possums in NZ, there are hundreds squashed on the roads and they are trapping them for leather and wool in Golden Bay area, apparently introduced many years ago for the fur trade and have now multiplied to 8 million. Every time I see one it reminds me of Loudon's song 'Dead Skunk'.

BTW the Kiwi's pronounce the e vowel as an i, so Nelson is Nilson and Yes is Yis. Another piece of totally useless information for you all.

Paul Kenny eaten alive shock horror!

Episode 3 of the continuing adventures of our wandering banjo player. Will he survive the sand flies? Will Keith Donnelly survive the shock of seeing PK in the audience? (Click on the map to enlarge and follow PK's journey)

Hi guys

Decided after a couple of days in Christchurch not to go to Dunedin but across the pass to Greymouth on the west coast to help myself to another slice of paradise. Headed south west to view the glaciers and stopped the night at a backpackers hostel The Church just south of Ross.

$20 per night, not bad but it was by a river and the sand flies made a meal of me. Bought some insect repellent the next day and smell like a citronella candle.

Viewed the Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers, they were awesome. Traveled down to Queenstown to view the Fiords but the weather closed in, mist and rain and it looked settled for a few days so decided to head north to Nelson, the sunshine City.

Stopped on the way at The Country Retreat, a four star, a planet removed from the backpackers. Arrived in Nelson the next day and sure enough it was hot. Stayed at a homestay and saw a great blues band at the Victorian Rose and ate at the Saltwater. With my new itinerary I'm on course to see Keith Donnelly tonight at The Mussel Inn, Golden Bay. Will he be surprised to see me!

I'll be staying in the Golden Bay area for the next few days, it's lovely and warm.

All the best
