'Sods on the air...

The BBC blew the dust off their copy of our first album, Scoundrels and Scallywags and played some tracks on Keith Wedgebury's show on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire this week.

The CD featured the band's 1996 line-up of Simon, Pete and Paul with Michael Mahon on banjo. Wedge's Monday night show on Warwickshire folklore featured stories from across the county, interspersed by very early arrangements of Sam Hall, Belfast Mill , The World Turned Upside Down and Red Is The Rose.

If you read this within seven days of the broadcast, you can take a listen by clicking here and then on the Wedge's Warwickshire link.

The band is getting a lot of airplay right now. The previous weekend saw a live interview with Simon and Mick Shaler on the local Beeb station - and there's more to come!

Keith Wedgebury turned up in person for the Oddsods and Friends Denbigh Arms session this weekend and recorded quite a lot of the show, plus some interviews with members of the band and audience. If we get advance notice of any of the material going on air, we'll let you know.

'Sods on the Tube

We now have a YouTube video.

It's actually a selection of photos that Chele has taken of the band over the last few months and an interesting audio backing - a little different from our usual sound.

More piccies!

These photos are a selection of some great shots taken by Michael Brown who turned up with his camera to our most recent Oddsods And Friends session at the Denbigh Arms. He was hoping to photograph musicians for an art project. Not finding any musicians, he pointed his camera at us!

Mick Shaler missed out - he was at home with the lurgi and drowning his sorrows with Benelin. But we were joined by a motley crew of 'and friends' including Colin Squire and the fellas with the cellos, Steve and Minty, also featured in these pics.

The rest of us robustly soldiered on, looking our usual magnificently macho selves.

Check out our next public appearance when we return to the Albany Club in Earlsdon, Coventry on Friday May 18th. The music starts at 9.30pm. Come in your coachloads!

Our appearance at Molly O'Grady's in Leicester on Friday May 4th was cancelled after they realised we were double-booked against the Wolfe Tones. Our next show there takes place on Saturday, September 1.
